Caracterización de la vegetación natural de sucesión primaria en el Parque Nacional Volcán Pacaya y Laguna de Calderas, Guatemala

Abstract

Con el objeto de contribuir al conocimiento del desarrollo de la vegetación en sucesiones primarias originadas a partir de deposiciones de materiales volcánicos se realizó la presente investigación en el Parque Nacional Volcán Pacaya y Laguna de Calderas. Se identificaron cuatro sitios para realizar el muestreo, tres de los cuales se han visto perturbados por erupciones volcánicas y un testigo, utilizado como referencia para las comparaciones, ubicado en un sitio que no ha sido afectado. Las variables evaluadas fueron: densidad, área basal y altura. En el PNVP-LC las perturbaciones provocadas por la actividad volcánica, son factores determinantes que afectan y modifican los patrones de la vegetación de las sucesiones en etapa de sucesión primaria. Dicho efecto va disminuyendo conforme la sucesión avanza en el tiempo, siempre y cuando no la precedan otras perturbaciones. With the object of contributing to the knowledge of the development of the vegetation in primary successions originated from the depositions of volcanic materials, the following investigation took place in the Pacaya Volcano National Park and the Calderas Lagoon. To make the following study four sites were identified to take samples. Three of the sites have been disturbed by volcanic eruptions, and one witness was used as reference to compare, and it was located in an are that has not been affected. The following variables were evaluated: density, trunk diameter and height. In the PNVP-LC the perturbations provoked by the volcanic activity are determining factors that affect and modify the vegetation patterns of the successions in each stage of the primary succession. This effect decreases as each succession advances in time, as long as there are no other perturbance.
