Carefully controlled host range studies have indicated that a considerable number of plants are attacked by Mycena citricolor and a preliminary host list includes about 150 plants belonging to more than 45 families. Some of the hosts may be of importance as potential reservoirs of infection; some which are crop plants, such as coffee, quinine, and cacao, may suffer severe economic losses. The evidence indicate that Mycena citricolor is normally present as a forest parasite in Costa Rica, attacking a number of plants in the wild
