Estudios morfométricos de fases de la langosta migratoria (Schistocerca cancellata Serv. (S. paranensis Burm)) en el Perú

Abstract

Morphometrical studies on S. cancellata Serv. (S. paranensis Burm.) were conducted at the Agricultural experiment Station of "La Molina", Perú, using methods devised by Dirsh on S. gregaria Forskal. Twenty-one indices were studied and their variation between sexes of each phase and phases of each sex were established and statistically assessed. These indices were useless for the most part in separating phases. Five characters were selected for study and correlations were found to occur. Their use and reliability during field work, with individuals belonging to transiens phase, were established.
