Efecto del toxafeno en el combate de la oruga peluda de la hoja del banano, Ceramidia viridis (Druce) (Lepidoptera: Amatidae)
Résumé
Irruptions of Ceramidia viridis (Druce) in 1957, severely injured Ecuadorean banana crops. To provide technical assistance to farmers affected by this outbreak, a test was carried out in Guayas province, Ecuador, to determine the most effective and economic dosage of Toxaphene to control this insect pest. Results indicated that the lower dosage of Toxaphene appeared to be equally effective in immediate kill as compared with medium and high dosages. Furthermore, nothing seems to be gained in lasting control with dosages over 3.8 pounds of technical material per hectare. It was also observed that several other species of lepidoptera feed on banana leaves.
