La capacidad de consumo en relación con el estudio de los forrajes
Abstract
It is becoming more evident that voluntary feed intake is extremely useful in evaluating forages. Some of the factors that determine forage intake are discussed. The discussion is based on data from feeding standards, but additional data is presented to point out the limitations of such standards. Particular emphasis is given to green matter intake and the fact that feeding standards are based on observations of stall fed animals. The figure suggested by Crampton of 3 Kg of dry matter consumption per 100 Kg. of body weight as indicating high consumption, seems to be applicable in many instances. For green forages a high consumption seems to be around 14 Kg green matter per 100 Kg. of body weight.
