El ordeño con ternero y la eficiencia reproductiva en el bovino
Abstract
Observations are analyzed on the length of the interval between calving and first estrus in criolio cow's milked with and without cedres. The cows that were milked without a calf were milked twice a day at 12 hour intervals. The group that was milked with the calf was milked out completely once a day and the calf was left to run free with the dams for 19 hours on pasture. this difference was hugely significant. Differences in number of services per conception were not significant, but the cows with calves had longer calving intervals than those milked without calves. It is concluded that milking with calves is a contributing factor to inefficient reproduction in Latin American cattle.
