Determinación de algunos índices fisiológicos en plántulas de algodón provenientes de semillas de distintas ramas fructíferas
Abstract
In cotton plants, bolls were gathered from the 2nd and 6th (fruit bearing) branches beginning from the base of the plants. The boll nearest to the principal axis was called A and the contiguous one, B. The seeds of each of these bolls were weighed and divided in groups at intervals from 50 to 125 mg. In accordance with this distribution, seeds were set to germinate and their seedlings were cultivated in nutritive solutions under artificial light. On these seedlings the following physiological index were determined: respiration, dry weight, leaf area, net assimilation rate, relative growth rate, leaf area rate and N, P, K, Ca absorption between 14 and 21 days of growing in nutritive solutions. The results found let us arrange the seeds, from greater to smaller, in this way, A2, B6, A6, B₂ for some index and B6, A6, B₂ for the others. We can assure that the physiological index of the cotton plant seeds are different and this difference is, in many cases, statistically significant.
