Influencia del Melinis minutiflora en el crecimiento del Cordia alliodora

Abstract

A study was made to investigate whether leaf or root extracts of Melinis minutiflora affect the growth of Cordia alliodora, and the possible composition when Cordia is associated with Melinis. The tests were made with one year old nursery stock transplanted into pots in a greenhouse. Results showed that all root and leaf extracts, as well as the association had negative effects on laurel growth. The extracts produced an inhibiting effect resulting in decreased height of plants, lower dry weight of roots, stems and leaves, and smaller diameter growth of the stem.
