A survey of the inhibitors of the cowpea leaf phospatase
Abstract
A preliminary survey of the inhibitions shown by different chemicals on the activities of acid phosphatases (B-glycerophosphatase, phenylphosphatase, pyrophosphatase) in cowpea leaf preparations was carried out. Three substituents and seven inhibitors were tested at different concentrations. It is suggested that the degree of inhibition shown by different inhibitors at a final concentration of 2 x 10-M may be in decreasing order as follows: MoO++ > Mn++ > Fe++ > oxalate > Co++ > azide > B+++
