Maderas latinoamericanas. II. Quercus aaata, Q. costaricensis y Q. eugeniaefolia
Abstract
Anatomical characteristics of three Central-american oak species: Quercus aáata Muller., Q. costaricensis Liebm., and Q. eugeniaefolia Liebm. are described. Furthermore the physical, mechanical, seasoning and machining properties of these species are included. Because of the extremely high tangential shrinkage the wood of all three species should only be used quartersawn. The possible uses of this oak species are listed as well
