Herbicidal control of Tecoma stans (l.) Juss. ex HBK
Abstract
The butoxyethanol esters of (2,4-dichlorophenoxy) acetic acid (2,4-D) and (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy) acetic acid (2,4,5-T) were superior to other formulations of these herbicides in controlling Tecoma stans (L.) Juss. ex HBK. Foliar applications of herbicides were ineffective. The herbicides were most effective when applied as a basal spray in diesel oil. This difficult-to-kill species was demonstrated by basal application of a combination of esters of 2,4-D and 4,5-T in diesel oil. The repeated growth of seedlings from seed makes measures necessary to maintain pastures and rangelands free of this weed.
