Herencia de la reacción del frijol común a la infección por el virus del mosaico rugoso
Alternative title
Inheritance of the reaction of the common bean plant to bean rugose mosaic virus.
Abstract
The inheritance of the reaction of the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) plant to bean vagose mosaic vivus (BRMV) was studied through three bean lines. One was immune, another resistant (showing only local lessions), and the third sus-ceptible (shouing systematic infection). The results suggest that the expression of symptoms to the pathogen was governed by three alleles at the same locus. One (Mrf) corresponding to immunity was completely dominant to the other two, the second (Mrf,) corresponding to resistance was completely dominant to the third (mrf), assigned to susceptibility. The monogenic nature of inheritance combined with the complete dominance of immunity and resistance to susceptibility should facilitate breeding efforts to protect the common bean against BRMV. - The authors.
