Observaciones fenomenológicas en el bosque húmedo de premontano de San Pedro de Montes de Oca, Costa Rica
Abstract
This paper reports 18 months of phenological observations in the forest remnanis of San Pedro de Montes de Oca, Costa Rica. This place is located in an area of rich volcanic soils at 1200 m above sea level, with a mean annual rainfall of 2000 mm and a temperature of 20.5.
The form phenological characteristics studied (flowering, fraiting, leaf flushing and leaf fall) show a marked periodicity doing the year Flowering and fruiting tend to behave very similar with peaks doing the diy season and beginning of the fuel season (January to May) and another in September - October, just after the “veranillos” (July - August, a period of less rainfall). Leaf fall exbibits also a high peat in the di) season, but it diminishes markedly hen the wet season begins. Another noticeable period of leaf fall is observed during the period of “veranillos” On the other hand, leaf flushing shows its most active period during the wet season (May to November).
