Degradación ruminal de forrajes tropicales cuando se sustituye King Grass (Pennisetum purpuerum * Pennisetum typhoides) por Morera (Morus alba)

Abstract

En Turrialba, Costa Rica, se evaluó el efecto de diferentes niveles de morera (Morus alba) sobre la degradación ruminal de materia seca de la morera y de tres gramíneas tropicales: jaragua (Hyparrhenia rufa), kikuyo (Pennisetum clandestinum) y brizantha (Brachiaria brizantha). La tasa de degradación ruminal (en horas) fue: morera (0.143), brizantha (0.047), kikuyo (0.042) y jatagua (0.032). Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre morera y gramíneas, pero no entre las gramíneas. Los niveles de morera en la dieta no afectaron la degradabilidad ruminal de la materia seca de las gramíneas sin embargo, la proporción de morera afectó su propia degradabilidad. The effect of different levels of mulberry (Morus alba) on the degradation in the rumen of the dry matter of mulberry and three tropical grasses: jaragua (Hyparrhenia rufa), kikuyo (Pennisetum clandestinum) y Brachiaria brizantha was studied in Turrialba, Costa Rica. The nominal degradation rate (in hours) was mulberry (0.143), brizantha (0.047), kikuyo (0.042) and jaragua (0.032). The differences between mulberry and the grasses were statistically significant no statistically significant differences were detected between grasses. Rumen degradability of the dry matter of the grasses was not affected by the levels of mulberry in the diet, but the proportion of mulberry in the diet affected its own rate of degradation.
