Crecimiento de forrajes mejorados con potencial para sistemas de producción agropecuaria en la subcuenca del río Jucuapa, Nicaragua

Abstract

Se estudió el crecimiento de las pasturas mejoradas Brachiaria brizantha {D7} Brachiaria ruziziencis y Brachiaria brizantha y la leguminosa Cratylia argentea bajo las condiciones agroecológicas de la parte media de la subcuenca del río Jucuapa, Nicaragua, y dos sistemas de siembra: directa y por transplante. Como pastura de referencia se utilizó la especie nativa Hyparrhenia rufa. Las pasturas mejoradas establecidas por transplante tuvieron una mejor cobertura del suelo y un mayor número de macollas, en comparación con la pastura nativa. Con cualquier sistema de siembra, los forrajes mejorados tuvieron mayores rendimientos de materia seca en comparación con los rendimientos de la pastura nativa. El crecimiento de Cratylia argentea no mostró diferencias significativas entre formas de establecimiento.

The growth of Brachiaria brizantha {D7} Brachiaria ruziziencis and Brachiaria brizantha pastures and of the leguminous Cratylia argentea was studied under the agro-ecological conditions prevailing in the central part of the Jucuapa river subwatershed, Nicaragua two planting systems were evaluated: direct sowing and transplant. The native species Hyparrhenia rufa was used as reference. Improved pastures established by transplant showed a better soil cover and a bigger number of shoots than the native pasture. Dry matter yields of improved pastures were much better than those of the native species. Cratylia argentea did not show significant changes in growth, whether established directly or transplanted.
