Tesis (Mag.Sc.) - CATIE, Turrialba (Costa Rica), 2005es_ES
This research was completed in the Tissue Culture Laboratory and in the greenhouse of the CATIE Biotechnology Unit, at CATIE Turrialba, Costa Rican, from December 2004 to October 2005. The main objective was to establish an efficient method to micropropagate two commercial species of Capsicum. Established methodologies were used as the base in this research. These methodologies were modified in order to find the chemical and physical conditions to establish successfully our varieties. In both species, 1 cm 2 foliar explants were taken from 35 day old plants to develop embryogenic callus. The MS medium with its vitamins plus BAP at 1.5 mg/l, 2,4-D at 4 mg/l , and sucrose at 8% and three weeks of culture in the dark favored the development of a friable callus with embryogenic characteristics. In C. annuum this medium permitted the development of small structures similar to somatic embryos.es_ES
