Studies of recent and past glaciations on the snowy peaks southeast of Mexico City throu new light on climatic cycles of the Late Quaternary Period Although some feel there is a progressive dessication, and even though it is true that ice reservoirs dwindling, this does not necessarily indicate an irreversible thend toward greater aridity. Effective combat of forest fires and control of timber cutting would, in a large measure, counterbalance the present trend toward drier conditions. Besides, the glacial record of alternating dry and moist phases definitely suggest that there is hope for a climatic reversal of the present trend.es_ES
