By irradiating seeds of the dormant bean Phaseolus vulgaris L. with 2000 gamma radiation from a Cs-137 source, a line of dwarf mutants was isolated in the R2 generation. These dwarf mutants have very expensive bipocotyl, epicotyl and trainer. The height of a fully developed mutant plant is about ten rows shorter than a normal plant. This mutant is capable of producing normal pollen and pods. Genetic studies revealed that this dwarf trait is recessive to the normal trait and is dominated by a single gene.es_ES
