Efectos de borde sobre la dinámica de la vegetación en bosques húmedos tropicales fragmentados de Costa Rica

Abstract

Este estudio lleva por finalidad, determinar los efectos de borde sobre la dinámica de la vegetación en fragmentos de bosques tropicales húmedos de Costa Rica. El estudio abarca el monitoreo de 36 parcelas permanentes de muestreo (PPA) de 100 x 20 m, instaladas en el 2001 para evaluar el efecto de borde en los bosques fragmentados. En este estudio se concluye que en términos generales los bordes no fueron más dinámicos que el interior del bosque, pero que sí existe un claro efecto de borde sobre la vegetación, al hallar que las palmas fueron más abundantes en el interior del bosque y que los individuos del grupo heliófita durable y familia Ephorbiaceae predominan en los sitios de borde. The objective of this study was to determine the edge effects on vegetation dynamics in tropical humid forest fragments in Costa Rica. The study included the monitoring of 36 100 x 20 m permanent sample plots (PSP) that were installed in 2001 in order to evaluate the edge effects of fragmented forests. In this study it was concluded that in general terMON the edges were not more dynamic than the forest interior, but there is a clear edge effect on the vegetation, because it was found that the palMON were more abundant in the forest interior and that the long-lived pioneer species group and the Euphorbiaceae family dominate the edge sities.
