Cuttings taken from different parts of young trees were treated with hormones and planted in soil and sawdust. The cuttings obtained from the main stem produced shoots, but those from the petiole failed. Of the cuttings treated with indole-butyric acid and planted in sawdust, 62.5 percent sprouted, 20 percent of those treated with indoleacetic acid produced shoots, and only 10 percent of the control rooted. Twenty-two percent of the cuttings treated with indolebutyric acid and planted in soil also produced roots. In two mass plantings (100 and 433 cuttings) of cuttings treated with indole-butyric acid and placed in sawdust, the respective rooting frequencies were 57 and 59 percent.es_ES
