Several seed germination tests have heen performed in order to know the role of light and temperature treatments on the germination of seeds of Cecropia obtusifolia. Most of the seed samples germinated only with light in all the temperatures. In field experiments the light quality inside the forest looks to be an environmental inhibitor for germination as it has been proved for other heliophyte pioneer species.es_ES
