Evaluación de las potencialidades y limitantes de los productores del Proyecto Silvopastoril del municipio de Matiguás, Nicaragua para desarrollar la Producción de carne orgánica certificada

Abstract

En este estudio se revisa el estado actual de la Producción de carne orgánica en Nicaragua, se describen las técnicas de manejo de pastos y animales que emplean los productores involucrados actualmente en la Producción de carne orgánica, se analizan las potencialidades, oportunidades, limitaciones y amenazas de la Producción de carne orgánica en el país y se analizan las potencialidade y limitaciones con las que cuentan los productores del Proyecto Silvopastoril para dedicarse a este tipo de Producción. Los resultados indican que para continuar en este sistema de Producción, a parte de las condiciones biofísicas y climáticas favorables para la Producción de carne orgánica, los productores actualmente involucrados en este sistema de Producción necesitan apoyo institucional y de mercado. This study (i) reviews the current state of the production of organic meat in Nicaragua, (ii) describes the management techniques employed by farmers already certified as organic meat producers, and (iii) analyses opportunities and constraints of farmers participating in the Silvopastoral Project SSP to comply with organic meat certification criteria. An analysis of the livestock management techniques employed by farmers participating in the Silvopastoral Project was conducted, and an index of compliance with the organic meat certification criteria was applied to them. The results indicated that in order to achieve continued whit this production, apart from the biophysical and weather favorable conditions for the production of organic meat, farmers currently involved in this type of livestock production need institutional and market support.
