La utilización de sangre de razas europeas y zebú para producción de leche en América Tropical
Abstract
Comparisons have been made for ten year performance of Jersey cows and two generations of halfbred Jersey x Zebu, and Brown Swiss x Zebu, at Turrialba. Results up to now indicate that for animals fed on tropical grasses in tropical conditions, Zebu blood raised milk production over pure Jersey stock. Zebu blood seems to give more vigour to its crosses with European races, in places where environmental conditions are adverse to European stock The Zebu x Jersey and the F. Zebu x Swiss showed evidence of hybrid vigour; not so the F Zebu x Swiss.
