A preliminary study was made of the metaolic transformation of several organic substances by green point gall tissue of cacao. The tissue was submerged in the various treatment solutions for 90 minutes, extracted with hot ethaol and water, and the extracts chromatographed. It was found that the green point gall could metabolize glutamate- and glucose-C exponent 14to some extent, while aspartate- alanine- and glicine-C exponent 14 were also used but to a lesser degree. The least metabolized substrate of all was glicine. A tentative discussion is given of the main possible metabolic pathways utilized by the gall.
