Foliar damage resulting in some cases in completion caused by the fungus Cylindrocladium scoparium Morg has been detected in a number of Eucalyptus species in Turrialba, Costa Rica. It seems that some of these species are more susceptible to attacks of these fungus than others. Observations from preliminary investigations indicate the following susceptibility rates. Eucalyptus hybrid from Bangalore: very susceptible; E. alba and E. saligna: moderately susceptible; E. grandis and E. maculata: slightly susceptible. E deglupta showed a height resistance, both in the field (natural infection) as well as in laboratory experiments (artificial inoculation).
