Evaluación al sacrificio en cabritos provenientes de los sistemas de crianza intensivo y extensivo
Alternative title
Carcass evaluation of kid goats grown under intensive and extensive management systems.
Abstract
In order to evaluate carcass yield of goats, two groups of kids from 8 to 9 months old were slaughtered and weighed. Fifteen animals had been raised with an intensive feeding system using sugar cane pods supplemented with molasses and a raw protein mixture made up of 40% poultry waste and 60% cotton seed meal. The other 14 animals had been fed under an extensive system, including carob trees (Prosoppis sp), Sapota trees (Capparis angulata), Acacia macrocanta and sonic pasture.
An unrestricted randomized design was used to evaluate carcass yield, offal, waste and skin. The results were 39.48% and 4106%; 25.28% and 23 .49% ; 26.6% and .22.63% ; and 5.54% and 8.27% for intensive and extensive systems respectively (P C 001 ). The yield on carcass cuts was 31.38% and 34.28% (P C 0.01) for leg; 21.29% and 22.16% for shoulder blade-arm; 14.15% and 12.41% for neck (P < 0 01); 12.47% and 13..19% for loin; 10.09%and 9. 76% for breast; 9.09%and 7.27%(P< 0.01) for ribs, under intensive and extensive feeding systems respectively. In the same order, the carcass length was .53.18 cm and 61..57 cm (P -C. 0.01), leg length was 36,27 cm and 36.7.5 CH?, and longissimus dorsi area was 6..5 and 9.31 cm2 (P C0.01), Digestive tract content was 22.7% of live weight for intensive systems and 18,81% for extensive systems.
