En los próximos años, se priorizará el reconocimiento del CATIE como centro académico internacional, con la preeminencia de una universidad internacional.; It present the actions developed by the Center to support the countries of the region in finding the solutions they need to achieve sustainable and inclusive developmente. CATIE has maintained its unique focus on integrating higher education and holistic research that has led to new approaches, including agroforestry and silvopastoral systems for sustainable agriculture and livestock, model forests, forest concessions, the blue economy and ecosystem services. In the coming years, priority will be given to CATIE’s recognition as an international academic center, with the preeminence of an international university. Uno de los sectores más impactados, sobre los que fue necesario accionar rápidamente fue en la atención de las economías locales y la seguridad alimentaria. El CATIE ha tomado medidas sanitarias de protección y de austeridad en el gasto, que le han permitido avanzar en la dirección de su misión institucional, como se muestra en este informe anual 2020. Esto se puede observar con los avances en la modernización de los programas de educación, en la gestión de nuevos proyectos, la consolidación de acciones de investigación en la región y en los países, el arranque de procesos de modernización institucional al contar con un nuevo sistema de administración de recursos financieros y empresariales (ERP, por sus siglas en inglés) y finalizar su nuevo Plan Estratégico Institucional 2021–2030.; The crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic began to manifest itself in the region in March 2020, this also required CATIE to adjust the modes of operation and support to the countries through its services. One of the most impacted sectors, where it was necessary to act quickly, was in the attention of local economies and food security. CATIE has taken health protection measures and austerity in expenditure, which have allowed it to advance in the direction of its institutional mission, as shown in this 2020 Annual Report. Finalmente entre los principales temas se puede observar al CATIE aportando significativamente al Desarrollo Verde Inclusivo, como concepto central de su nuevo plan estratégico, por medio de sus tres pilares de trabajo: educación, investigación y proyección externa. El CATIE presenta su oferta de valor a partir de la intervención integral y apunta su teoría de cambio hacia la transformación, apoyándose de sus alianzas estratégicas y proyectos de escalamiento de innovaciones y de desarrollo en la región para incidir y lograr los impactos debidos en los temas de interés del Desarrollo Verde Inclusivo. Mediante la labor científica de investigación, de educación a nivel de la escuela de posgrado y de la formación de capacidades y el acompañamiento coordinado con aliados estratégicos se abordan los temas de interés de la región para el Desarrollo Verde Inclusivo en sistemas agroforestales, restauración de ecosistemas, manejo responsable de los recursos naturales, ganadería sostenible, seguridad alimentaria, agronegocios y mejoramiento genético en café y cacao.; CATIE continues to contribute significantly to Inclusive Green Development, as a central concept of its new strategic plan, through its three pillars of work: education, research and outreach. CATIE presents its value proposition based on the integral intervention of its three pillars and supports its theory of change towards transformation, relying on its strategic alliances and projects for scaling up innovations and development in the region to influence and achieve the necessary impacts on the topics of interest of Inclusive Green Development. Through scientific research, education at the graduate school level, capacity building and coordinated support with strategic allies, the topics of interest to the region for Inclusive Green Development in agroforestry systems, ecosystem restoration, responsible management of natural resources, sustainable livestock, food security, agribusiness and genetic improvement in coffee and cacao are addressed. CATIE has positioned itself as a world reference in the conservation of biodiversity and the transformation of food systems based on agrobiodiversity to achieve the multiple objectives of a one health: animal, human and environmental welfare while respecting the planetary limits.
